April 18, 2001

DOVER, DE - A 41-year-old woman from Collingdale, Pa., claimed an April 14, 2001, $100,000 POWERBALL® prize yesterday afternoon (April 17) at the Delaware Lottery Office in Dover.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was awarded $72,000, which represents her $100,000 prize minus $28,000 for federal tax.

The woman, a part-time postal worker, purchased the winning POWERBALL® ticket at Village Liquors in Claymont on the Thursday (April 12) before the drawing. Her winning Quick Pick ticket matched five of six winning numbers.

Lottery Officials said the woman learned she had won when she asked the clerk at Village Liquors on Monday (April 16) to check her ticket. "I was surprised, but I definitely felt lucky the day I purchased my ticket," the woman explained. She hasn't decided what to do with the prize money yet, but she said, "I'm sure I'll figure something out!"

According to Lottery Officials, as of today, one $100,000 POWERBALL® prize remains unclaimed for the April 11 drawing. The winning numbers for the drawing were 04, 21, 32, 39 and 41 for the white numbers and 31 for the red POWERBALL® number.

Tonight's POWERBALL® jackpot has an estimated annuity value of $10 million. Tickets for POWERBALL cost $1 and are available at all Delaware Lottery On-Line Retailers.
