SOME LIKE IT HOT; LEAH ROTONDO LIKES HER COOL $1,000

DOVER, DE -- Leah Rotondo, a 24-year old veterinary technician from Newark, Del., won $1,000 cash in a second-chance drawing that wrapped up the Delaware Lottery's recent promotion at McGlynn's Pub and Deer Park Tavern in Newark. She was one of hundreds of club patrons who received free SOME LIKE IT HOT! Instant Game tickets, photos with their friends and Lottery premiums during the promotion. Non-winning tickets were eligible for the second-chance drawing held by radio partner WSTW-FM.

"This is our third year for these promotions, and every year they get bigger and better," said Brian Peters, Delaware Lottery Marketing Director. "They're popular with the patrons, and we like them because they give participants a free chance to play while introducing some non-players to the entertainment value of Instant Games. And of course, we're delighted for our winner."

Rotondo was surprised when she found out she was the winner. "You've got to be kidding me," she said. While not a regular Lottery player previously, she plans to play now. Her plans for the $1,000? "I'm going to pay bills with half and spend the other half on me," she said.

The promotions, held in conjunction with WSTW-FM, ran on Tuesday nights: June 10 at McGlynn's Pub and June 17 to July 1 at Deer Park Tavern. Delaware Lottery staffers gave away SOME LIKE IT HOT! Instant Game tickets and other Lottery premiums to participants who provided correct answers to Lottery trivia questions. SOME LIKE IT HOT! Instant Game tickets offer the chance to win up to $1,000 instantly. Non-winning tickets collected at the events were entered in the second-chance drawing for a $1,000 cash prize. Patrons also received free framed digital photographs of themselves enjoying a night out with their friends.

In August, the Delaware Lottery's 2003 Live Events Promotion moves to Dewey Beach. It will run on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Rusty Rudder. CAT Country is the radio partner.

Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has contributed more than $1.6 billion to the state's General Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in Delaware. The Lottery offers a variety of games: POWERBALL, LOTTO, PLAY 3, PLAY 4, and assorted Instant Games. More information is available at delottery.com.
