GOVERNOR LAUDS PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN DELAWARE LOTTERY AND DAIMLERCHRYSLER, DELAWARE STATE FAIR

HARRINGTON, DE - Celebrating the launch of two new Delaware Lottery Instant Games-DELAWARE STATE FAIR and DODGE DAKOTA QUAD CAB -Delaware Governor Ruth Ann Minner this morning thanked two private sector companies for their ongoing contributions to the state.

"The support and cooperation the state receives from DaimlerChrysler and Delaware State Fair, Inc. are great examples of   the public and private sectors working together in ways that benefit all parties," Governor Minner said.  "Each of these organizations has a very important presence in the state." 

Today's launch of the Lottery's two new Instant Games took place at the Delaware State Fair Grounds in Harrington.   David W. Singleton, Delaware Secretary of Finance and Wayne Lemons, Delaware Lottery Director, joined Governor Minner at the event.   Also present were William J. DiMondi, president, Delaware State Fair, Inc. and Michael Muldoon, Philadelphia Zone Manager, DaimlerChrysler.

 "Among the prizes available in the new DELAWARE STATE FAIR Instant Game are more than 23,000 weekday passes to this year's Fair," DiMondi said.  "We see this as a great addition to our promotional efforts, and were very happy to collaborate with the Lottery on this game."

"The DODGE DAKOTA QUAD CAB Instant Game was developed as a result of the success of the 1999 DURANGO Instant Game,"   Muldoon said.  "We've found partnerships with the Delaware Lottery-much like partnerships with other Delaware agencies-to be both meaningful and rewarding.   We're very much looking forward to a continued relationship and the success of this years DAKOTA QUAD CAB Instant Game."

Delaware Secretary of Finance Singleton noted that both DaimlerChrysler and the Delaware State Fair had been extremely open to working with the Lottery to develop cooperative programs. "Each organization's offerings are enhanced by mutually beneficial alliances such as these," he said.   "The Lottery looks forward to building on these relationships to maximize its on-going contribution to Delaware."

The $1 DELAWARE STATE FAIR Instant Game ticket features images of several Fair favorites including popcorn and hotdogs, carnival rides, and a horse and rider.  The $2 DAKOTA QUAD CAB Instant Game features the 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab Sport 4x4 as its top merchandise prize.  The new Instant Games went on sale this week at more than 450 Delaware Lottery Retailers throughout the state. 

Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has contributed more than $969 million to the state's General Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in Delaware.   The Lottery offers a variety of games including POWERBALL®, the fastest-growing multimillion-dollar jackpot game, All Cash Lotto, Rolldown®, Play 3 and Play 4, and assorted Instant Games.
