"JCPENNEY DIVAS" WIN $100,000 POWERBALL® PRIZE FROM MAY 8 DRAWING

DOVER, DE -- Twenty-one women calling themselves the "JCPenney Divas of Christiana Mall" claimed a $100,000 POWERBALL® prize from the Saturday, May 8 drawing at the Delaware Lottery office in Dover yesterday afternoon.

Their winning ticket matched all five white numbers except the red POWERBALL® number. The white numbers matched on their ticket were 03, 09, 17, 37 and 43. The red POWERBALL® number was 39. Each of the winners, who wish to remain anonymous, received their share of the $100,000 prize minus $25,000 for federal taxes.

The winning POWERBALL® ticket was purchased at C.B. Perkins in the Christiana Mall on Thursday, May 6. The woman who bought the tickets for the "Divas" found out they had won when she checked the winning numbers in the newspaper. "I didn't believe it!" she exclaimed. "I checked the numbers three times and then had my husband check them with me before I called the store to let my co-workers know."

The winners' plans for the money include paying for a son's honeymoon, financing a wedding reception, and funding a Girl Scout Leader trip to New Zealand. This is not the first time they have gotten together to buy POWERBALL® tickets, and it won't be the last - although the group is likely to grow as a result of their recent success. "Everyone wants to play now," one of the winners said.
Most of the winners have worked together for a long time. As one explained, "we're all very happy for each other. We're almost like family, and it's really nice that we won together."

Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has contributed more than $1.7 billion to the state's General Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in Delaware. The Lottery offers a variety of games: POWERBALL®, LOTTO,
