DELAWARE INDUSTRIES FOR THE BLIND EMPLOYEES
SPLIT $100,000 POWERBALL® PRIZE FROM JUNE 23 DRAWING

DOVER, DE -- Eight employees of Delaware Industries for the Blind in New Castle claimed a $100,000 POWERBALL® prize from the Wednesday, June 23 drawing at the Delaware Lottery office in Dover yesterday.

Their winning ticket matched all five white numbers except the red POWERBALL® number. The white numbers matched on their ticket were 09, 12, 16, 20, and 39. The red POWERBALL® number was 01. Each of the winners received their share of the $100,000 prize minus $25,000 for federal taxes.

The winning POWERBALL® ticket was purchased at Dave's Liquors on New Castle Road in New Castle on the day of the drawing.

According to Arnetta Watson, spokesperson for the group and supervisor of the Sewing and Embroidery departments at Delaware Industries for the Blind, the group has been playing together for about two years now. "They're dedicated to POWERBALL," she said. "I never have to bug them - they chase me down to give me their POWERBALL money."

Watson checked the numbers on the winning ticket - twice - by calling the Lottery's Player Information Line Thursday morning. Then she went into work. She said that on most mornings, they all get in before her, but that morning no one was there. "I was bursting at the seams," she said. "I couldn't tell anyone until I told them." Finally, her coworkers came in and she got to share the big news.

The winners have very specific plans for their winnings, including buying a stainless steel refrigerator with an icemaker and water in the door, getting new dentures, carpeting a house and replacing the kitchen floor, putting it in the bank, taking girlfriend to Atlantic City, going to New Orleans, getting a computer, and giving some to a spouse.

Last year, the group won $100. Watson sees a positive progression, and said their trip to the Lottery Office today was just a dry run. "We'll be back," she said. "We're going to win the big one."
