LOTTERY SPONSORS BLUE HEN BASKETBALL
DOVER, DE -- The Delaware Lottery
has teamed-up with the University of Delaware as a sponsor
of the 2004-2005 men's and women's basketball season. The
season began in late November and continues through February
27, 2005. As a sponsor, the Lottery will provide half-time
entertainment, with a tie-in to POWERBALL®, LOTTO, Play3/Play4
and Instant Games. Participants in the half-time activities
will receive "Delaware Lottery Prize Packs" containing
a Delaware Lottery tote bag, "Wanna Play?" T-shirt,
Instant Game tickets and Delaware Lottery Dollars which are
redeemable at any retail location.
"This is the Lottery's first sponsorship opportunity
with the University of Delaware and we are thrilled to be
a part of the excitement that surrounds U of D basketball,"
said Brian Peters, deputy director of sales and marketing
for the Delaware Lottery. "The Lottery and the University
both contribute great resources to the state of Delaware.
We are proud to be associated with them," remarked Peters.
The sponsorship was announced simultaneously with the December
6th launch of the Lottery's PAC-MAN™ CASH Instant Game
ticket. "We will highlight this and other current games
in our half-time shows," continued Peters. "We believe
that the PAC-MAN™ game, a 1980's classic, will resonate
with U of D fans." The Lottery's other half-time games
will include, the "PAC-MAN™ Challenge", "Delaware
Lottery Dash", and POWERBALL® Free Throw with PowerPlay"
in which students will compete in a free-throw shooting contest
using five white balls and one red ball, a play on Lottery's
POWERBALL® drawings.
Lottery representatives will be on hand at the University's
Carpenter Center with information on the Lottery's newest
games and a prize wheel for chances to win additional prizes
at select games.
Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery
has contributed more than
$1.8 billion to the state's General Fund to help finance needed
state services that benefit everyone in Delaware. The Lottery
offers a variety of games: POWERBALL®, LOTTO, PLAY 3,
PLAY 4, and assorted Instant Games.
