Apparently 'Tis the Season for Winning with the Delaware Lottery
$200,000 Powerball and $172,000 Multi-Win Lotto Prizes Highlight Flurry of Claims

Dover, DE -- It has been a great start to the holiday season for dozens of Delaware Lottery players. On November 18, a six person office pool from the Wilmington law office of Morris, James, Hitchins & Williams got the winning trend started as they scored a $200,000 Powerball prize from matching five numbers. Then, on November 29, a Chester, Pa., man won the record $172,000 Multi-Win Lotto top prize. To wrap up a winning week, on Friday, December 1,477 lottery players picked the Play 4 Night number "1130" winning a total of $276,532, including 73 top prizes of $2,500.

The office pool claiming the November 18 Powerball prize has chosen to remain anonymous, but the group member who redeemed the ticket said that the same six people have been buying 12 tickets twice each week for the past 18 years. But cashing in was a bit lucky for the rest of the group. Twice each week the dedicated purchaser buys the group's 12 tickets and typically buys two separate tickets for herself so she can play some personal numbers such as family birthdays. But this time, rather than play her numbers separately, she incorporated her numbers into the group's 12 tickets. And, as luck would have it, those were the winning numbers.

"I'm so happy I did that [included her personal numbers in the 12 tickets] because all the others really deserve it to share in the winnings" she said. "It's just so nice that they can relax for a little while and not worry about a few bills. I'll never forget that experience."

The winning ticket was purchased at The Convenient Store located at 107 West 9th Street in Wilmington.

A 66-year-old machinist and grandfather of one claimed the record Multi-Win Lotto top prize. He is a long-time Multi-Win Lotto player who also enjoys playing the PLAY 3 and PLAY 4 games. He purchased his ticket at the Village Market located at 1000 Ridge Road in Claymont.

"I like the Multi-Win Lotto because when you buy one ticket, you have three lines to win on," he said. In addition to winning the record top prize of $172,000 by matching all six numbers in a line, the player added an additional $100 to his prize matching a total of nine numbers from all three lines on the same ticket. "It's safe to say that [this prize] will allow me to spoil my five-year-old granddaughter a little more this Christmas."

In addition to the record Multi-win Lotto prize awarded on November 29, Powerball players won a $30,000 Power Play prize and two $10,000 prizes on the same night. The three prizes remain unclaimed.
