NEW CASTLE WOMAN HITS MEGA BUCKS WITH $1.5 MILLION MEGAHITS™ JACKPOT WIN

Dover, DE --Ellisa Young, from New Castle, DE, became the first million-dollar IGT MegaHits™ jackpot winner this week.  Ellisa won a total of $1,453,960.86 playing the Wild Sapphire MegaHits™ progressive machine at Delaware Park Racetrack & Casino on Wednesday, October 24.  It was also the first time a player in Delaware has won the three-state progressive jackpot.

“October has been a lucky month for our players,” said Lottery Director Vernon Kirk. “After all of the excitement surrounding the recent $50 million POWERBALL® jackpot win, we were even more thrilled to learn there was another millionaire winner in Delaware. And with the plans we are making to introduce new and exciting offerings to our Delaware Lottery players in the near future, we expect to have even more big winners right here in our state.”

A retired surgeon originally from Pennsylvania, Ellisa now enjoys spending some of her free-time playing the Lottery.  She is a Delaware Park Player Rewards Club member and likes to play at the casinos in Delaware.

When at the casino, “I typically scope out the machines and see who is playing what,” she revealed.

In this particular instance on October 24, Ellisa was making her way through the machines at Delaware Park when she spotted Wild Sapphire Megahits™.

“One lady had just gotten up from the [Wild Sapphire MegaHits™] machine,” said Ellisa. “I sat down and after three spins, I had won!”

Ellisa bet the maximum bet of $3.

Not long after, when the bells and whistles announcing her big win and the crowd of people had subdued, Ellisa thought she might try her luck again.

“I went to play another machine and won a thousand dollars there!” she exclaimed.

Ellisa was paid $10,000 of her prize on the spot at Delaware Park and claimed the rest of her Jackpot at Delaware Lottery headquarters in Dover on October 26.

Upon claiming her prize, Ellisa stated to Delaware Lottery officials that she would still continue to play the Lottery and offered one small piece of advice to other players.

“You’re going to win when it’s the right time and the right place.”
