Wednesday’s Powerball® Jackpot Drawing Climbs To $400 Million
The Delaware Lottery Is Asking Players To Please Play Responsibly

Dover, DE - February 18, 2014 Wednesday night’s POWERBALL® has reached an estimated annuity jackpot of $400 million–one of the largest POWERBALL jackpots in U.S. lottery history, according to Multi-State Lottery (MUSL) officials. With no winner from the drawing that took place Saturday, February 15, 2014, the jackpot was raised from $330.8 million to the current $400 million. The winning numbers from Saturday’s non-winning jackpot drawing were 2, 9, 14, 21, 23, 3, and the POWERBALL number was 3.

The current jackpot run has been climbing since December of last year. If the $400 million jackpot is won this Wednesday, the winner could opt for a cash option payout of $227.8 million.

The Delaware Lottery joins other lotteries across the country in support of responsible play by emphasizing that the odds of winning a POWERBALL jackpot prize are 1-in-175 million and that players should play within their means.

“Since POWERBALL’s price point change from $1 to $2, we’ve steadily seen the jackpots on the rise,” said Delaware Lottery Director Vernon Kirk. “The $400 million POWERBALL jackpot is not only the fourth largest POWERBALL estimated annuity jackpot, but is also the sixth-highest prize we’ve seen in lottery history. While we expect that our retailers will be busy and sales will be high, we also are expecting players to be wise with their lottery ticket purchases and ask them to please play responsibly by spending only what is personally affordable.”

In October 2012, a couple from Wilmington, Del., claimed $33.05 million, the cash value equivalent of the $50 million estimated annuity POWERBALL jackpot that was drawn on October 3, 2012. The largest POWERBALL jackpot ever recorded occurred last May when a Florida woman won the $590.5 million jackpot prize.

POWERBALL tickets sell for $2 per game and with the Power Play® option POWERBALL costs $3 per game.
