Hot Lotto® to Retire This Fall, After 15 Years of Serving Lottery Fans

The Delaware Lottery celebrates more than 30 Delaware HOT LOTTO® winners over the game’s lifetime!

(DOVER, Del.) — This fall, Delaware Lottery players will have an opportunity to say farewell to the treasured HOT LOTTO® game, by participating in the final drawing on Saturday, Oct. 28. After 15 years, HOT LOTTO® will hang up its hat and retire according to Multi-State Lottery Association officials.

“Most games have a life span, and it’s [standard] practice for us to make changes to keep a fresh game selection,” said Vernon Kirk, director of the Delaware Lottery. “We are always looking for new ways to engage players and introduce fun, and I am confident that fans will embrace the exciting games to come.”

HOT LOTTO® is currently sold by 14 lotteries across the country: Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee and West Virginia. In total, the game has created 53 grand-prize winners with combined Jackpots totaling more than $181 million.

Although there have been no Jackpot winners in Delaware since 2009 ($16.69 million), the Delaware Lottery is pleased to celebrate the 33 big Delaware winners in the game’s lifetime. Of the big winners, 14 claimed a $10,000 prize, 14 claimed a $30,000 prize, four players were HOT LOTTO® Sizzler winners and one player won the Jackpot.

Players will be able to purchase tickets for the final HOT LOTTO® drawing up to 9:45 p.m., and the drawing will take place at 10:30 p.m. Winners have 365 days to claim prizes from the date of the drawing. The prize money at the end of the HOT LOTTO® game will be distributed as prizes in other Lottery products by the participating jurisdictions.

“Loyal and new players alike should be excited about the new possibilities—and more ways to win,” Kirk added.
