POWERBALL® Jackpot Now Stands at $650 Million, Second-Largest Jackpot in Game History

(DOVER, Del.) — POWERBALL® players will have an opportunity to win the second-largest jackpot in POWERBALL® game history this Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, according to Multi-State Lottery Association officials. The new POWERBALL® jackpot of $650 million was reached after the Saturday, Aug. 19 drawing, marking the 20th roll with no jackpot winner. If the jackpot is won this Wednesday, the winner could opt for a cash option payout of $411.7 million.

With such extraordinary payout potential, the Delaware Lottery is joining other lotteries across the country in encouraging people to play responsibly.

“It’s easy to get swept up in dreaming that you could win the life-changing jackpot,” said Vernon Kirk, director of the Delaware Lottery. “While we encourage our players to have fun and dream big, it’s extremely important to be mindful when playing, by not overextending yourself and playing within your means. A great way to play responsibly is to pool your ticket purchases with friends or family members, and then you can all enjoy the thrill together.”

The overall odds of winning a POWERBALL® jackpot are one in 290 million. The last jackpot, for $447.8 million, was won on June 10, 2017, in California.

The winning numbers from Saturday’s drawing were 17, 19, 39, 43 and 68. The POWERBALL® number was 13, and the Power Play® number was 4x. POWERBALL® tickets sell for $2 per game; the Power Play® option POWERBALL® costs $3 per game.
