Newark woman celebrates birthday week with a big win

Dover, DE — A 48-year-old Newark woman purchased five Instant Game tickets from Acme #2680 in Newark, Delaware. One of the tickets she purchased was Money to Burn and that ticket ended up being one of the game’s $250,000 top prize winners.

“It’s exciting to see the second $250,000 Instant Game winning ticket sold in Delaware this year,” said Vernon Kirk, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “A Pennsylvania man won $250,000 in January playing $250 GRAND.”

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, was with her daughter when she found out she had won. “We couldn’t believe it,” the woman said. “I scratched the ticket and was so surprised. We went and scanned it just to be sure.”

When asked what she was planning to do with her winnings, the woman said she is excited to pay off her debt and to help others.

The woman claimed her prize at Lottery Headquarters on April 11, 2019, just three days before her birthday.
