Middletown man welcomes $150,000 win playing VIP Black

Dover, DE — Anthony Holcomb, a 61-year-old Wawa manager from Middletown, has claimed the final $150,000 top prize from the Instant Game VIP Black.

Mr. Holcomb likes to stop at the HMS Toll-Road, Inc. Welcome Center along I-95 in Newark, where he usually buys around five Instant Game tickets. One of these routine stops recently turned into something very special, when a ticket purchased at the Welcome Center made Mr. Holcomb a $150,000 winner in an instant.

“Seeing a Delaware Lottery player win big is always a cause for celebration“ said Vernon Kirk, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “This may be the final top prize for VIP Black, but we’re proud to currently offer a variety of Delaware Lottery Instant Games with six-figure top prizes, like CASH ERUPTION, SHOW ME $100,000 CASH and SIX FIGURES.”

After Mr. Holcomb realized he had won the top prize, his initial reaction was, “Wow!” He quickly called his wife to share the exciting news. Mr. Holcomb has won $5,000 playing the Lottery in the past, but this is his biggest win yet.

When asked what he was planning to do with his winnings, Mr. Holcomb said he plans on paying off his vehicles.

Mr. Holcomb claimed his prize from Lottery Headquarters on September 2, 2020.
