Wilmington man wins $50,000 playing POWERBALL®

Dover, DE — Nathaniel Perry, an 80-year-old retired man from Wilmington, recently purchased five tickets for the April 30th POWERBALL® drawing from Benson’s Liquor Mart in Wilmington. When he checked the numbers on the Delaware Lottery website, Mr. Perry realized it was truly his lucky day. One of his tickets matched four white balls and the POWERBALL®, winning him $50,000 before taxes.

Mr. Perry said he has started playing Delaware Lottery Draw Games, “many, many years ago.” POWERBALL® has been a longstanding personal favorite, and he usually purchases five tickets at a time using Quick Pick. “I was so excited when I realized I was a $50,000 winner,” Mr. Perry said. “I’m happy beyond words.”

“Congratulations to Mr. Perry on this exciting win,” said Vernon Kirk, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “We’re always happy to see a longtime player win big with their favorite Draw Game.”

Mr. Perry said he’s still deciding what to do with his winnings, and plans to put the prize money into savings for the time being.

The winning numbers from the April 30 drawing were 14, 21, 37, 44 and 63. The POWERBALL® number was 01, and the Power Play number was 3X.

Mr. Perry claimed his prize from Lottery Headquarters on May 2, 2022.
