Townsend man wins $100,000 playing POWERBALL®

Dover, DE — An 81-year-old man from Townsend recently purchased a single ticket for the October 10th POWERBALL® drawing from Main Street Liquors on West Main Street in Middletown. After checking the ticket, the man was surprised to find he had matched four white balls and the POWERBALL®. The man also played the Power Play® 2X multiplier, taking his prize total to $100,000 before taxes.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said he has been playing the Delaware Lottery since 1996. He enjoys Draw Games in particular, and said he loves the thrill of playing for the chance to win big. “When I realized I was a $100,000 winner, I couldn’t wait to call my daughter,” the man said. “It was a very happy moment for both of us.”

“Congratulations to this lucky player on his $100,000 win,” said Helene Keeley, Acting Director of the Delaware Lottery. “It’s always great to see longtime fans of Draw Games bring home big prizes with POWERBALL®.”

The man said he plans to use some of the prize money to pay off a few bills, and is still deciding what to do with the rest of his winnings.

POWERBALL® drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights at 11:00PM EST. Tickets can be purchased until 9:45PM EST on the day of the drawing.

The winning numbers from the October 10th drawing were 03, 06, 11, 17 and 22. The POWERBALL® number was 11, and the Power Play number was 2X.

The man claimed his prize from Lottery Headquarters on October 12, 2022.
