Newark woman wins $2,000,000 prize playing POWERBALL®
Dover, DE — A 36-year-old woman from Newark had a lucky feeling while purchasing a two play POWERBALL® ticket with POWER PLAY® for the February 25, 2023 drawing. The woman purchased the winning ticket while visiting Wawa #861 located on Capitol Trail in Newark. She was completely shocked to find out her ticket matched all five white numbers with a 3X Power Play®, taking the $1,000,000 prize to a total of $2,000,000 before taxes.
“It’s always great to see a Delaware POWERBALL® player win a seven-figure prize,” said Helene Keeley, Acting Director of the Delaware Lottery. “Congratulations to this lucky $2,000,000 winner.”
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said she has been playing Delaware Lottery Draw Games for about five years. She particularly enjoys the excitement of POWERBALL® and prefers to select her numbers using Quick Pick, as was the case during this particular visit.
“I was in disbelief,” the woman said. “I called my mom right away and told her the news of my big win.” When asked what she will do with her winnings, the woman said she would put the money towards buying a house and paying off debt.
The winning numbers from the February 25, 2023 drawing were 11, 24, 58, 66, and 67. The POWERBALL® number was 26, and the Power Play number was 3X.
POWERBALL® drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights at 11:00PM EST. Tickets can be purchased until 9:45PM EST on the day of the drawing.
The woman claimed her prize from Lottery Headquarters on April 24, 2023.
