Wilmington man wins twice in 4 days playing PLAY 5®
Dover, DE — A 34-year-old man from Wilmington is celebrating an extraordinary streak of luck after winning big twice with the Delaware Lottery’s PLAY 5® game – just 4 days apart. Both winning tickets were purchased at New Castle Shell, located at 3001 New Castle Ave in New Castle.
The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, claimed two $50,000 tickets and two $10,000 tickets from the June 9, 2025 PLAY 5® day drawing after matching all five winning numbers: 1 0 0 0 0. He returned to Delaware Lottery Headquarters on June 16, 2025, to claim another stunning prize. This time totaling $200,000 from the June 13, 2025 day drawing where he had four tickets each worth $50,000.
The longtime player has been playing for five years and typically spends $50 on tickets each time. He always picks his own numbers. For the June 9 win, he based his number selection on his old phone number. After checking the winning numbers online, he said he couldn’t believe what he was seeing and immediately told his cousin the news.
For his second win, the number 5 0 1 5 9 was inspired by his grandfather, who often played 5 0 1 5 in PLAY 4®. The winner decided to build off that tradition by adding a fifth digit and it paid off in a major way.
When asked how this will change his life the winner said it will add to how blessed his life already is.

It’s also a great reminder that every number has a story—and sometimes, those stories turn into life-changing moments.”
