Chester woman wins $25,000 playing Delaware Lottery’s PLAY 5®
Dover, DE — A 66-year-old woman from Chester, PA is celebrating a $25,000 win after matching numbers in the July 9, 2025, PLAY 5® night drawing, a lucky moment for someone who shared that she’s just starting playing the Delaware Lottery.
She purchased the winning ticket at Speedy Mart, located at 1120 South Broom Street in Wilmington.
The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, said she just recently started playing the lottery. “I was just looking for something to do, and thought I’d buy a lottery ticket for fun,” she said. “I never expected to win anything, let alone $25,000.”
She checked the results later that day and was stunned by her win. While the winner is not yet sure how she will spend the prize money.
“It’s always exciting to celebrate a win, especially when it’s someone who is new to our games,” said Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “This story is a great reminder that you never know when luck will strike.”
