Millsboro Man Wins $10,000 Prize Playing LUCKY 7s CASHWORD

Dover, DE — Gregory Samples, a 63-year-old retired man from Millsboro, claimed his $10,000 prize from the LUCKY 7s CASHWORD Instant Game at Delaware Lottery Headquarters on September 19, 2025. The winning ticket was purchased at Wawa #865, located at 24930 John J. Williams Highway in Millsboro.

At first, Gregory believed the ticket was only worth $500, however when the Lottery machine displayed the message “See Lottery” for cashing, he guessed it might be $1,000. When the prize was confirmed, he was stunned to discover it had an extra zero, for a $10,000 win!

A longtime player, he said he has “always” played and typically purchases two tickets at a time, often trying out the newest games for the fun and excitement of winning. Earlier this year, he won $1,000 and $2,500 on $50 tickets, but this win topped them all.

The first person he shared the good news with was his husband. He said he plans to use the prize money to buy Broadway tickets and enjoy retirement even more.

“What a wonderful surprise to celebrate with Gregory! We were absolutely thrilled to share this $10,000 win with him and hear about his exciting plans,” said Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “We sincerely wish him all the best on his upcoming trips to Broadway and hope his retirement brings him tremendous joy and success.”
