Power Play Boosts Frederica Man’s Powerball® Prize from $50K to $150K
Dover, DE — A 69-year-old man from Frederica is celebrating a $150,000 Powerball® prize thanks to the Power Play option in the September 22, 2025, drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at Wawa #876, located at 200 East Street in Camden.
The retired player, who chose to remain anonymous, has been playing for just two years and usually purchases two tickets per drawing. Using a mix of birthday numbers and random selections, he matched four white balls plus the Powerball® — 03, 29, 42, 46, 59, and Powerball® 15 — to win $50,000. Because he purchased the Power Play option, his prize was tripled to $150,000.
The first-time winner described feeling “joy and excitement” after realizing he had won. He shared that he plans to use the prize to pay off debt and added that he is “loving the lottery system!”
“It’s always special when a player sees their winnings multiply,” said Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “This $150,000 prize is a great example of the extra excitement that Power Play brings to Powerball®. We couldn’t be happier for our winner.”
The man claimed his prize at Delaware Lottery Headquarters on September 23, 2025.
Powerball® drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 PM. Tickets cost $2 per play, with an additional $1 for the Power Play option, which can multiply non-jackpot prizes.
