Frankford Woman Wins $300,000 Play 5 Prize with Six Lucky Tickets

Dover, DE — A 74-year-old woman from Frankford is celebrating a $300,000 prize from the Delaware Lottery’s Play 5 Day drawing on December 8, 2024. The winning ticket was purchased at Wawa #836, located at 774 Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach.

The retired Delaware native purchased six tickets for the drawing, all using the same set of numbers. Each ticket won $50,000, bringing her total prize to $300,000. She explained that she uses her brother’s telephone number as inspiration when selecting her numbers.

Her first reaction to realizing she had won was to let out a colorful word of surprise, followed quickly by sharing the news with her sister. The first thing she plans to buy is a car, adding that the winnings have given her “peace of mind.” Calling herself “very blessed,” she also plans to share part of her prize with family members.

“It’s remarkable to see a player win on six tickets with the same lucky numbers,” said Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “From treating herself to a new car, to generously sharing with her family, it’s heartwarming to hear how this win will bring both joy and peace of mind to our lucky winner.”

The winning numbers from the December 8, 2024, Play 5 Day drawing were 4, 0, 0, 5, and 9. The woman claimed her prize at Delaware Lottery Headquarters on September 24, 2025.
