Wilmington Man Wins Big with $150,000 Powerball® Prize
Dover, DE — A 69-year-old man from Wilmington is celebrating a $150,000 Powerball® win from the October 1, 2025, drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at Silverside Discount Liquors, located at 1403 Philadelphia Pike in Wilmington with the winning numbers of - 8, 17, 28, 55, 64 and Powerball 14.
The Delaware native and longtime truck driver, who chose to remain anonymous, has been playing Powerball® since the game first came out, using the same set of numbers inspired by family members’ birth months and years. This time, those lucky numbers paid off in a big way.
When he realized he’d matched four numbers plus the Powerball®, his first reaction was a heartfelt “Thank God!” He immediately shared the exciting news with his wife. The win left him so thrilled that he said he could hardly sleep that night, replaying the moment over and over in his head.
“It’s always exciting when a player’s favorite numbers win,” said Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “Stories like this show how much joy and anticipation Powerball® can bring, especially for those who have been part of the game since the beginning.”
He claimed his prize at Delaware Lottery Headquarters on October 3, 2025.
Powerball® drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 PM. Tickets cost $2 per play, with an additional $1 for the Power Play option, which can multiply non-jackpot prizes. Tickets are available at Lottery retailers statewide.
