Newark Woman Wins $25,000 PLAY 5® Prize
Dover, DE — A 54-year-old woman from Newark is celebrating a $25,000 win from the October 3, 2025, PLAY 5® day drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at Wawa #868, located at 4651 Ogletown-Stanton Road in Newark with the winning numbers of - 7, 1, 2, 1, and 2
The retired Delaware native has been playing the Delaware Lottery for 20 years, always selecting her own numbers, using her granddaughter’s birthday. She said she felt overwhelmed with gratitude when she realized her numbers had hit.
The win, she explained, came at just the right moment, as she and her husband have faced some hard times recently. The couple said they are deeply thankful for the prize, which will help them pay off bills and get back on their feet.
“It’s always special to see a long-time player win, especially when the prize comes at a meaningful time,” said Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “Stories like this remind us that behind every ticket is a person, and sometimes, that win can truly make a difference for a family.”
PLAY 5® drawings are held twice daily, seven days a week. Day drawings take place at 1:58 p.m. with sales closing at 1:40 p.m., and night drawings occur at 7:57 p.m. with sales closing at 7:30 p.m. As an exciting, newer addition to the traditional lineup of games, PLAY 5® is quickly becoming a fan favorite, offering players the chance to win up to $50,000 twice a day, every day. Tickets are available statewide at Delaware Lottery retailers.
