Dover Man Left Smiling After Winning $50,000 PLAY 5® Prize
Dover, DE — A 69-year-old man from Dover is celebrating a $50,000 win from the Delaware Lottery’s PLAY 5® day drawing on October 21, 2025. The winning numbers were 5, 2, 8, 2, and 5. The winning ticket was purchased at The Depot, located at 595 Forest Street in Dover.
The retired winner, who has been playing since 1982, said he typically purchases five tickets at a time and carefully selects his own numbers - always including his lucky number, 2. His method involves studying past draw results and choosing combinations that feel right to him.
When he checked the numbers, he initially worried that he hadn’t played his usual picks. But after confirming that he had, and had matched all five numbers, he couldn’t help but smile. The first thing he did to celebrate was treat himself to breakfast.
He plans to use his $50,000 prize to pay some bills and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with a little extra financial comfort. The man claimed his prize at Delaware Lottery Headquarters on October 23, 2025.
